Dental Camp at Samburu – October

The clinic was conducted at Kiltamany Comprehensive School and Gir Gir Comprehensive School on the 15th & 16th, and 17th & 18th of October 2024 respectively, to serve the communities at Kiltamany, part of Westgate and community in Archers Post region. This was in partnership with the Olmalaika Trust, who were the main organizers, with Soroi Collection, Soroi Larsens Camp, and the County Government of Samburu.

Services provided for community members: the clinic offered dental care, which included X-rays, extractions, fillings, root canals, cleaning, and consultation.

The trust came with a team of 8, where 4 provided oral health education and 4 support persons. We also had 2 dentists and 1 support staff from the County Government of Samburu, the Department of Health, and youth 4 youth volunteers from the community to help with the translation from Samburu to English.
The following are the summaries for the three days;

Day 1: The total number of clients was 47 (including 30 adults and 17 children). Services offered include 32 extractions, 23 X-rays, 12 cleanings, 40 fillings, and 4 root canals. Some of the clients received more than 1 service.

Day 2: The total number of clients was 52 (including 35 adults and 17 children). Services offered include 20 extractions, 15 X-rays, 12 cleanings, 23 fillings, and 3 root canals. Some of the clients received more than 1 service.

Day 3: The total number of clients was 107 (including 70 adults and 37 children). Services offered include 72 extractions, 11 X-rays, 21 cleanings, 29 fillings, and 7 root canals. Some of the clients received more than 1 service.

Day 4: The total number of clients was 69 (including 28 adults and 41 children). Services offered include 40 extractions, 14 X-rays, 12 cleanings, 13 fillings, and 2 root canals. Some of the clients received more than 1 service.

Day 5: The total number of clients was 16. Services offered include 6 extractions, 7 X-rays, 6 cleanings, 7 fillings, 2 root canals, and 1 excision. On this day, the services were offered to Soroi Larsens Camp staff.
SUMMARY: The total number of clients attended to was 274, which includes 164 extractions, 63 X-rays, 105 Fillings and 31 Cleaning, 18 root canals, and 1 excision).
