CWC distributed food packages to 10 families in communities neighbouring LUMO Conservancy for Christmas. This was a special donation from the staff at Lions bluff Lodge who had sacrificed to reduce their portions, for at least two meals a week, for more than a month, to make this package. The aim of this was to collect the rations and distribute them to needy members in the local community neighbouring LUMO Conservancy. Together with the Maktau sub-location assistant chief, we identified the most deserving 10 families from 10 villages. On Christmas Eve, we visited these families at their homes, as we delivered the packages.
From that, the staff collected a total of 50kg of rice, 1 bale of Maize flour, 1 bale of wheat flour, 10kg of sugar, and 10 kg of rice and beans. In addition, one of the managers contributed 10 litres of Oil to the package. Thus, every household gets 5kg of rice, A 2kg packet of wheat flour, a 2kg packet of maize flour, a kg of sugar, a kg of beans and 1 litre of oil. 4 packets of both wheat and maize flour were distributed among different households based on the number of members.
Staff are willing to continue with the initiative come 2024 to support needy families.
