CWC is excited to share the success of our recent Free Dental Camp, held in the LUMO Conservancy area in partnership with the Olmalaika Trust team (led by Kim DeWitt) along with Sunworld Safaris and Soroi Collection. Over the course of four impactful days; March 8th to 9th at Mwanjila Youth Polytechnic and March 10th to 11th at Maktau Comprehensive School, Kim and a dedicated team of five dentists and four support staff provided essential dental care to the LUMO community. Patients received a full range of dental services, ensuring life-changing treatment for those in need.

Our Impact at a Glance:

  • 284 patients served (252 adults, 32 children)
  • 200 extractions performed
  • 70 fillings provided
  • 19 root canals completed
  • 45 X-rays taken
  • 38 cleanings conducted
  • Other critical treatments offered

A Story of Determination

One of the standout moments of the camp was the resilience of two patients in need of urgent root canals. Due to the unavailability of a crucial material, they were asked to return the next day. Despite an early morning arrival, the medicine did not arrive on time, requiring them to travel 25 KM to a different venue on Day 3. Their perseverance finally paid off – they were successfully treated, with one patient once again being the first in line at the new location. Their dedication exemplified the impact of accessible healthcare and the determination of those in need.

Looking Ahead

The success of this camp was made possible through strong community collaboration, the magnificent efforts of Kim DeWitt and her team, our CWC Community Liaison Officer Purity for her hard work, and the dedication of Community Health Volunteers who assisted with client coordination and follow-ups.

Thanks to meticulous planning and teamwork, the camp ran smoothly, allowing us to provide uninterrupted care to those in need. The success of this camp reinforces our commitment to providing accessible, quality dental care to underserved communities. We extend our deepest gratitude to every dentist, volunteer, and partner who made this possible.
