On Saturday, 10th February 2024, we conducted the clean-up at Archers’ post town, as well as launched the Plastics to Books project. We engaged 4 primary schools and 3 secondary schools each being represented by 10 students and 2 teachers. The students and teachers each got a certificate of participation, as well as the school getting a school certificate and books for their libraries. We also involved 2 youth groups, Exotica FC & Transform Samburu Affirmative Project, with each group getting a certificate, and Transform Samburu members getting a t-shirt and a roll-up banner.
The local leaders, including the chief, the ward administrator, village administrator vouched to continue with community sensitization on plastic and waste management. A total of approximately 100kgs of plastics were collected. The proceeds will then be used to buy textbooks for the students, a football kit for the soccer team, and supportive items for the Samburu Affirmative group.
