Dental & Medical Camp

The camp was conducted for the LUMO Community, at Godoma Primary and Msorongo Primary on 12th & 13th, and 14th & 15th of March 2024 respectively. This was in partnership with the Olmalaika Trust, who were the main organizers, while Soroi Collection, Lions Bluff Lodge, LUMO Community Wildlife Conservancy, Mama Project and Taita Taveta department of health also took part.
Services provided included oral health education to the primary school pupils of Msorongo primary and Godoma primary. Also, for the community members, the clinic provided general medical and dental care, which included; x rays, extractions, fillings, and root canal and consultation.
The trust came along with a team of 21, where 3 provided the oral health education, 9 on the dental services and 10 providing the medical services.
Also, present were the Maktau Public Health Officer, Community Health Volunteer and LUMO Conservancy rangers, who came in handy to translate between the clients and the health providers.
The following are the summaries for the three days;
Day 1: Total number of clients was 80. This included 42 medical clients and 38 Dental clients (20extractions, 7 X-Rays, 11 Cleanings, 9 Fillings). Some of the clients received more than 1 service.
Day 2: Total number of clients was 103. This includes 64 medical clients and 39 Dental clients (25 extractions, 7 X-Rays, 5 Cleanings, 11 Fillings, 1 Root Canal). Some of the clients received more than 1 service. 23 of the clients were children, with 81 adults.
Day 3: Total number of clients was 81. This includes 52 medical clients and 29 Dental clients (15 extractions, 4 X-Rays, 6 Cleanings, 4 Fillings, 3 Root Canal). Some of the clients received more than 1 service. 23 of the clients were children, with 81 adults.
Day 4: Total number of clients was 100. This includes 52 medical clients and 48 Dental clients (28 extractions, 5 X-Rays, 9 Cleanings, 8 Fillings, 2 Root Canal). Some of the clients received more than 1 service. 18 of the clients were children, with 82 adults.
Summary: The total number of clients attended to were 364, which includes 210 medical clients and 154 dental clients including the 88 extractions, 23 X-Rays, 32 Fillings and 31 Cleaning)
